spinal chord
key of be
By: Justin Cook

stemming from hips, to my temples,
i fell in love with the tap of ivory.
marrow carved, chromatic shadows;
tempo grooved to my ribcage.

skull fusing midnight notes.
dissonant ebony reverberates bone.

b-sharp unlocks a soundboard—
my fractured adolescence, cast-gold
frame for tendons and strings;
the crucible, tuned, just intonation.
