BETWEEN THE SYNAPSES
By: Daniel Hodgman
Between the synapses
Curdled
Memories
Flashbacks
And neurons spin turbulent
While my whole mind collapses.
Dust covered
Electric sparks
Rust on unequal arcs;
A trodden
Conveyor belt,
No stop with no start.
Skulking through tunnels
Then hurdling past lapses
Gorging
On protoplasm
Stringing along my reactions.
Slung from the shadows
That corrode in the corners
On uneven intervals
That cease to stop.
Quick jabs
Then a pop
Another wave and K.O.
Torching
Finger flames
Scalp
My mind
Real slow.
