The Color of Shadow
By: Janet Navarro
The faint linger of cool
in the dent
still embossed
on the pillow your lover
left behind–
That’s shadow.
So too,
the odor of
stale cigarettes
smoked in the
kitchen
where scorched
clam chowder
sits cold
on the stove
Flat champagne in
juice glasses
on the chest by the sofa —
the rusty
scent of
T-shirt
cast off in
passion
scooped up now
and drawn to your
face. And,
the leftover sting
still hot on your cheek
as the last teardrop
rolls off your chin.
Great blog! Do you have any helpful hints for aspiring
writers? I’m planning to start my own site soon but I’m a little lost on everything.
Would you recommend starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for
a paid option? There are so many options out there that I’m totally overwhelmed ..
Any tips? Thank you!
